LASER SCANNING
As-built drawings show what was supposed to be built and don't always reflect what was actually completed. In some cases, changes have been made on-site that were not documented. CONSTRUCTION PHOTOGRAPHY
Whether supplementing a laser scan or just ensuring that you get every angle every time, 3D cameras are a revelation in photography. Take less pictures while getting more data and use that information to track site progress, create walkthroughs and photo key plans, or rotate and screenshot that perfect angle to markup for RFI or punch list purposes.

If you even manage to acquire as-builts for a project, how good is the data? Are the drawings up-to-date? If they are, are they accurate? In a world that utilizes BIM, how convenient is it to go from 2D plans to a 3D model, even if all information does check out? Let's not forget that even with good data, the format can still be inconvenient. One is lucky to get CAD files, but what if only PDFs or physical drawings are available? On top of checking the accuracy of the data, you also have to worry about converting that data into a format that is usable. Save the hassle by acquiring point cloud data, on-site, prior to construction, to build your as-built model and start your project on the right foot with the utmost accuracy. Toss the measuring tape and laser measurers out, which often are the tools of inefficient data collection and inconsistent approximating, and replace them with a laser scanner that can accurately, within tenths of inches (tens of mm), automatically acquire all the data you need for your project.

Projects are not static or finite. Nor too should be your drawings. Combine the best elements of a physical model and your 2D drawings by modeling your project in 3D. There's no such thing as too many pictures. How many times have you sat at a desk looking for that one photo that will solve all of your problems only for it not to exist? Probably on every project. How many thumbs and low quality photos have ruined a great attempt at gathering information? If too many is the answer, then 360 photography is your answer. Utilizing a tripod, remotely capture your site photos with 360 degrees of view to not only ensure that you capture every angle, but that you don't capture yoursef in the process and the photo is clear and stable.

Technology has come a long way. Matterports and certain 360 cameras can be of great use to any company in the construction industry, especially when it comes to street-view walkthroughs. They fall short, though, when it comes to walkthroughs for marketing purposes. Without proper planning, that is often tedious, using these methods can lead to jumpy videos that will have the user navigating through walls, stairs, and other structural elements. Eliminate all of this by using the most basic of setups, a camcorder. That, coupled with our experienced editors and anti-shake technology ensures a smooth, natural walkthrough experience.

Traditional models have a certain character to them that cannot be matched, but they often lack durability. Details are lost due to material constraints. Flimsy materials are degraded due to time and environment. Laser cutting is slow, noisy, and introduces pollutants in the air and manual cutting is even slower and sloppy. And the ever-present clumsy passerby can be counted on to have a few accidents. Save time, increase durability, detail, and shelf life by producing your model using 3D printing methods. The added benefit is, of course, that you can utilize your already created 3D model instead of having to take the time to explode, flatten, scale, and sequence your model into a 2D kit of parts that can then be reassembled in 3D.
